Field Note #4 The Meeting Place (Guided Practice)

field note guided practice Jul 01, 2026

This practice begins with the body.

Using Franklin Method balls—or simply a folded towel or blanket—we gently release the lumbar, thoracic, and cervical spine through conscious relaxation, breath, and easeful movement.

As the body reorganizes, it naturally becomes available to greater relationship, greater expanse, and greater information. Our experience begins to widen.

We explore the living waters within us.

The currents of the breath.

The movement of the air that continually surrounds us and moves through us.

From here, I invite another possibility.

What if the skin is less a boundary than a living membrane?

Rather than separating us from the world, what if it participates in an ongoing conversation with it?

As we continue, we gently explore what I experience as the currents of the ether—not as something to understand first, but as something to experience.

Just as we can sense the movement of water and the movement of air, perhaps we can begin sensing subtler currents that continually move through and around us.

As the practice unfolds, another possibility begins to emerge.

That we can consciously introduce this living body—this finite place—to the infinite spaciousness that surrounds it.

And equally...

we can invite that infinite spaciousness to meet us here—

within this body,

within this breath,

within this living moment.

Rather than beginning with concepts, let's begin with direct experience.

Whatever you come to know through your own embodied experience is yours to discover.

Come with me.

Thank you for exploring with me. I would love to hear what you discover.
